Wonderful flock of 200-300 golden plover on the top of Dinas Mountain at 9-10 am today. Difficult to count because they were rising and falling in groups of various sizes. Sneaked around the leeward side of the flock and it was surprising what a lot of noise they were making. Thought it was the wind whistling around the edge of my binos at first, but as I got closer it turned into the general hubbub of a lot of closely-packed birds. They were sitting tight when I left, with their heads to the wind, transformed to glittering splendour by occasional rays of sunlight.
