A massive thank you to Peter & Rosemary in allowing us to share this wonderful bird with them.
The bird showed 3 times between 7.20 and 8am in its favoured apple tree. It also appeared in the surrounding trees, briefly, a couple of times. As Peter explains viewing is from their private lane behind the house and gravelled parking area which overlooks the apple trees. Depending on where you stand and exactly which bit of the apple tree the bird feeds in, viewing can be excellent or restricted so patience will be needed.
The grid reference for the designated parking is SM814084 - basically stay on the B4327 towards Dale, ignoring signs for St. Brides, until you reach a t-junction where you either turn left for Milford Haven/St. Ishmaeals or right to Dale/Marloes, turn left towards Milford, and the entrance to the field is almost immediately on your right, clearly signposted (again, good work Peter & Rosemary).
Walk back north and take the lane straight ahead of you towards St. Bride's. Orlandon Kilns is the first house on the left along this lane, about a 400m walk.
From the views I had this morning, in relatively low light, I couldn't call it either Eastern or Western. The undertail coverts are plain and appeared concolorous with the belly, vent etc, so perhaps more likely Western. Need to see the outer tail well to be sure.
