Newgale again

Decided to brave the incessant drizzle and increasing southerly wind this afternoon to have a good look at the gulls at Newgale.  Approaching from the south via Nolton, the road was blocked at the Pebbles car park by, err, lots of pebbles.  A nice little wetland has been formed between the car park and the entrance to the holiday park but nothing other than a Rock Pipit at the margins.  I walked all the way north to Brandy Brook outflow by the cafe, also checking the marsh.  The adult Glaucous Gull was seen briefly on the beach at the north end, and a minimum of 14 different Mediterranean Gulls (5 adults, 4 3CY and 5 2CY) were scattered the length of the beach.  Less Kittiwakes than yesterday, though it was impossible to see birds feeding offshore due to the poor visibility.  With both Thayer's & American Herring Gull on the Gower surely there is a cracking reward waiting out there for one of us!
