Quite quiet at the Gann late afternoon, just 24 Teal (no Wigeon or Brents), 1 Goldeneye, 1 Little Grebe, 1 Little Egret, 4 Redshank, and a scattering of gulls. Of more interest was the storm & tide damage, at least 2 points along Pickleridge (more Pickle, less Ridge) the ridge had been damaged, in one place the ridge that remains is very narrow.
Around at Dale the birding was more lively, with an excellent gull roost consisting, as usual, mainly of Black-headed Gulls, a decent number of Common Gulls (80+), a handful of Lesser Black-backs and an impressive 25 Mediterranean Gulls (19 adults, 1 3CY, 5 2CY). This roost would be my tip for a smaller rare gull - Ivory, Ross's, Bonaparte's etc - one has to dream!
