Stackpole/Bosherston, Castlemartin Corse

A kittiwake was an unusual sight sitting on the water of the Central Lake near Broadhaven South this morning.

This afternoon, at Castlemartin Corse, an impressive flock of 26 chough were feeding vigorously in the usual field on Gupton Farm, east of Starman's Hall (A4). So impressive that I counted them several times, to be sure. A bittern flew about 400 metres E>W down the reedbed, dropping into the reeds near the lete (secondary channel). This individual has a distinctive notch resulting from missing primaries in its right wing. The water rails were back in the reedbed after being flooded out the other day, but no word from the Cetti's warblers, one hopes they haven't gone far.
