Great Spotted Cuckoo

Had to go back for a second look after work, and enjoyed great views, on-and-off, up to 615pm when the bird had appeared to settle to roost.  This was at SS121991, viewable from the footpath about 300m south of Penally Station car park.  Prior to that, the bird had been seen mainly in scrub just to the east of the footpath that runs across the golf course to the beach.  Please note that this is a public footpath, but access to the golf course is not for the public.  However, the good golfers seem to be tolerant of birders watching from sensible places that do not hinder the golfing, but please understand that you leave the public footpath at your own risk, if you do it, be VERY considerate to the golfers who pay to be there.  What a bird - more than makes up for the disappointment of 2009.
