Jason Moss, our keen eyed Assistant Warden, spotted this small Canada Goose this evening in South Valley. It was initially on it's own but then started associating with two greaters and all three ended their day grazing on top of the Mew stone. Our experience of the small forms of Canada Geese is limited but the size, structure and most plumage features matched hutchinsii, but their was a dark area in the chin strap near the throat. A small Canada Goose was recorded on Skomer in 1999 and tried to pair with a greater in the following year. Parvipes also gets regular mentions in our records. Any help is welcomed.
