At Angle Bay we noted 19 Brent geese (18 pale and 1 dark-bellied). One of the birds was colour ringed (red left V and white right C). There were a few redshanks present but not much else was visible in the misty conditions.
It was too wet and foggy to do anything much on the coast, so we set about searching for rookeries in south Pembs last counted by David Little, David Level et al in 1986 and 1996. We hope to cover all those they surveyed to see how they are faring this year. Any counts of rookeries you know of near you in Pembs would be appreciated. Hopefully there will be more to report later.
During our travels either side of Milford Haven we noted small numbers of swallows, numerous blackcaps and chiffchaffs in wooded areas. Willow Warblers were also singing outside our house at Martletwy at first light this morning.
