I think Mike is spot on with this identification. As well as the male in Shetland in April, there is another one in Dorset as we speak. There was a female bird on Skomer last year that was photographed by Dave Boyle and looked very good for Eastern, Dave may well have even submitted it as such by now. Should anyone be fortunate enough to find a Subalpine, clearly it needs looking at carefully (or at least alert others so that it can be checked out). Having finally caught up with Western Subalpine in Pembrokeshire last year after 25 years of looking, hopefully Eastern won't take me as long!
