Hobby and a Ruff - The Gann
8.30 am Hobby shot low over the length of pools before heading towards Dale village for one minute it looked like it was going to settle in a tree beyond the car park but Jackdaws moved it on. A Ruff roosting among a small group of Lapwing on one of the islands was put up by the Hobby and flew onto the marsh. My attempt to follow over the stepping stones almost ended in disaster, they are like 'bars of soap' be warned! 2 Med Gulls (an adult and first winter), 5 Little Grebe, 9 Little Egret (5 on pools and 4 on marsh), 26 Teal and 1 Wigeon. Dale Airfield: Very quiet on the airfield apart from a Peregrine on a kill. The track up had more life with 3 Chiffchaff and 4 Goldcrests in a flock with a couple of Blue Tits - gave them a good grilling for YBW but none that I could see. Also a Chiffchaff by the church. Quick look at Marloes Mere from car park 13 Lapwings in field by Trehill but couldn't see the 2 Ruff.
