No sign of the rosefinch today but the firecrest was still present in the garden. Other highlights included a Balearic shearwater during a quick seawatch this morning, a whinchat and the first jack snipe of the autumn skulking around the scrapes in the wet heath.
Also of note - a steady movement of swallows most of the day (minimum of 87 south and east) plus a single late house martin. 4 chiffchaff, 9 goldfinch, 24 starlings (the first since August), 3 chaffinch, 40 carrion crows (65 yesterday). At sea - 2 wigeon, 11 common scoter, 2 sandwich terns and 5 Manx shearwaters
