On the way up to St David's Head this morning it was nice to see a flock of c. 500 golden plovers on the move between Brawdy and Roach - today being an international census day for this species.
Up at St David's Head, we briefly chatted with Malcolm Barradell who was surveying cetaceans. He had noted 2 ring ouzels on route from Whitesands to the head - we missed these! Overall it was a fairly quiet day. Only a small number of auks and gannets were feeding offshore plus the odd passing wigeon and scoter heading towards Ramsey Sound. The 5 mute swans noted in Ramsey Sound had swam around St David's Head from the north somewhere on the ebbing tide. There also seemed to be a small passage of linnets moving along the coast. Apart from that very little other movement was noted.
