With calmer conditions today, we visited St David's Head for another four hour session to survey seabirds feeding offshore. Small numbers of auks were regularly present and a few gannets were hunting where porpoises were feeding. Two common dolphins were noted briefly heading north.
Not many birds passed while we were there but it was nice to see a fine velvet scoter just a few hundred metres offshore heading towards Ramsey Sound at about mid-day. Other interesting species included 2 great northern divers and a red-throated diver heading south and a merlin chasing small birds (probably pipits).
