Amroth to Saundersfoot
Allowing for the low tide, some 200+ Common Scoter were relatively close inshore (with many more much further out) along the shoreline from Amroth to Saundersfoot this morning, providing good enough views to rule out any of the less common species. Small numbers of Fulmar, Great Crested Grebe and Red-breasted Merganser were also in the area. While searching through the scoter flocks I also picked up a distant dark-phase skua, presumed Arctic on size and structure, that set about a small flock of c.20 Kittiwakes, before isolating one for special attention. Plenty of other gulls around too, but nothing unusual. Finally, there was a dead Red-legged Partridge on the road between Wiseman's Bridge and Coppett Hall, this was quite possibly the first I have seen in Pembs.
