Feet back firmly on the Teifi now,
One of the c6 Jack Snipe we saw on the marsh yesterday, see Jack Snipe starts the year for an introduction to the Teifi Marsh Jack Snipe.
After missing this morning's Bittern flypast at 10:50, another look this evening at Kingfisher Hide and surrounding reedbed. At 16:15 the first of three waves, or very brief mumurations of Starlings.
The third one of maybe 15 thousand Starlings brought with it the first of two Peregrines, and by 16:35 a Sparrowhawk joined the hunt. Certainly more Starlings around this evening...maybe 35k..
As dusk fell Common Snipe flying to the river to feed and not sure how many Water Rails but easily 10+ calling from the track alone.
Earlier today, two Bar-tailed Godwits from the Webley, 94 local Barnacle Geese on the main river, and 9 Ringed Plover and 15 Dunlin on Patch. Nice to see a pair of Red-breasted Mergansers just off-shore. 140+ Teal at Creek Hide and another 100+ around the river.
With three records of Green-winged Teal on the Teifi - the last in 2000, about time for another !!
From the new (to me) viewing screen near the river view point, one male Goosander and a female Goldeneye..must be a great spot for the Otters too..
