Had a look at the Corse this morning with Richard Dobbins. There is plenty of water on the Corse at present with large flooded areas in front of the reedbed and at the far, East, end of the Corse. The vast majority of birds were concentrated in this latter area with several hundred each of Lapwing, Golden Plover, Teal and Wigeon together with 7 Pintail, 2 Greylags, 20+ Shoveller and good numbers of Mallard.
Over the reedbed the less well marked Marsh Harrier was seen frequently, at one point briefly tussling with a Buzzard. Plenty of Snipe in evidence - both being flushed by the Harrier and flying off from the marshy areas as we walked the Corse. Otherwise the main part of the Corse was very quiet with just a couple of Stonechats and fairly small groups of Starlings.
