Gulls Gulls Gulls

More gulling at Llys-y-fran this afternoon.  The usual adult Ring-billed Gull was quickly found, as was a smart adult Yellow-legged Gull.  As the light began to fade a last scan produced an Iceland Gull - it was very pale, faded & bleached, and had a fair amount of pale at the base of the bill, so I think it is most likely a 2nd-winter (3CY), but it may just be a very pale juvenile (2CY).  A sizeable gathering tonight, but the wind & direction made it difficult, and the birds were very prone to getting up ans shifting around, the reason soon became evident - a Goshawk and then a Peregrine both buzzing the flock.  Have posted my first entry into the 2015 Iffy Photo of the Year Competition.

Regarding the Glaucous Gull(s) at Marloes, Derek's original photos on 3rd January do not show a missing primary, nor did it have one today - so I suspect it is quite possible the 4th January photo shows a displaced primary rather than a missing one.
