A beautiful morning on the Cleddau at Hook this morning, over 2,200 birds counted for the WeBS. Highlight was an impressive 10 Pintail, including 5 fine drakes. Also nice to see both Bar-tailed (1) & Black-tailed (6) Godwits, one of the latter had already acquired a few breeding plumage feathers (scattered scapulars and breast side / upper flanks). Most numerous species were Teal (861) and Dunlin (775), and on the goose front Greylags outnumbered Canadas 35 to 2. 2 drake Tufted Duck were a surprise on the river, frozen out of somewhere presumably.
