Glaucous Gull - Llys-y-fran
An impressive 1st winter Glaucous gull already on the water when I arrived at 4.30, bathing and constantly lifting off and repositioning, not seen again between 5pm and when I left around 6.15pm. Very big roost >3,000 - virtually all LBB, perhaps 50 each BH and Herring gulls, 12 Common and a 2cy Med. 5 Tufties. Pair Goldeneye. A Greylag and 3 Mute Swans.
Earlier, had an afternoon at Pantmaenog from Bwlch Gwynt all the way down to the paddock and back up the high path, despite a good search no sign of any GGS, the stiff wind didn't help but plenty of sunny sheltered areas. A dozen or so Fieldfares flew across road near Woodstock, and a mass of large gulls drifting over fields near Tufton Arms. A Red Kite over Merlins Bridge around lunchtime.
