One of the surprises of the last few days has been the number of Snipe on the fields across the Marloes peninsular: 20+ on Dale Airfield in a short walk yesterday, a dozen on the Trehill Farm fields; it feels as though they arrived late and are staying quite late. A real treat yesterday was a wonderfully striped Jack Snipe flushed in Martin's Haven valley.
Few summer visitors out here yet: a couple of Chiffchaffs singing only snatches of song down by the Gann, and a female Blackcap that seemed mildly confused by the eclipse yesterday.
And a huge thanks to Dave Astins for my first ever Ring-billed Gull.
