A fantastic day spent in the Preselis replacing some of the storm-damaged kestrel boxes was rounded off nicely when a short-eared owl was seen hunting near the kestrel box at Mynydd Castleblythe yesterday afternoon. The most noticable birds of the exceptionally bright day were stonechats which seem to have arrived en masse back in the upland breeding sites just in the last week or so.
The green woodpecker that has been seen on and off at Llandilo since last autumn is now really vocal most mornings, especially on mild days.
