Dotterel & Golden Oriole @ Marloes Mere

A sublime hour or so at Marloes Mere late afternoon.  Just one of those days to remember...

Lovely views of the 12 Dotterel in a field close to the coast path west of the mere.  I would guess 5 females and 7 males/2nd calendar year birds.  Such a delight!  They seem to have departed - some tractor work in the field looks like it precipitated their departure as they were seen flying over Skomer Island heading north.  Also in the same field 10+ White Wagtails and 3 Ringed Plover.

As I walked back to the car, a Golden Oriole flew across in front of me and headed straight out across the mere, I lost it behind vegetation and the contour of the land.  It was low so may still be around.  It looked pretty bright but not black and yellow enough to be an adult male.  A Dunlin flew across the mere, and Sedge Warblers have arrived in numbers, as have hirundines.

It's been a magic spring so far, especially for waders: what's next?
