We can barely move for fledglings at present: literally dozens of Linnets, a family of Dunnocks, and we watched 4 Whitethroats leave the nest (chaotically) this morning. A Kestrel keeps cruising up and down the valley, so probably senses easy pickings.
Lots of orchids are also now out. We have given up trying to identify them, since they seem a hybrid Marsh-type, but they are lovely.
In the pond a rather fat eel: that explains where all our newts have gone this year!
