SQUACCO HERON

The Squacco Heron has been seen well for prolonged periods this morning in the Pond at Ferry Hill Llangwm. (photos below) It disappears for quite long periods in between however. The owners of the house are co-operative and helpful and will allow a few birders at a time to view the pond from the side of the house. Ferry Hill is the continuation of the road (Richmond Road?) which turns left off the main village road at the Baptist Chapel, after Guildford Bridge. The house (no 81) is the last on the left at the top of the hill (SM9951508958). There is room for four or five cars in a layby 100 metres before the house (where a Yellow-browed Warbler was calling). Alternatively continue a little way and turn left to the Sewage Treatment Works where there is more parking space. Do not park on the grass verge or obstruct residents.
