I have to agree with Derek - we went over there about a fortnight ago and were gobsmacked by the number of birds, which even included a flock of about 20 Mute Swans. There were truly carpets of birds in the shallow water - mostly Wigeon - but plenty else too as Derek so well describes. Shame it's such a trek to get to from Dale!
