A walk around St Brides yesterday afternoon was pretty quiet with just a few Song Thrush evident and some big flocks of Starlings around the farm buildings. But in the dense hedgerow along the roadside 100m east of the old telephone box was a fine male Firecrest.
There have been more Firecrest around this winter than any previous year and the Ringing Group have ringed over 20 - a record over a 30 year period.
