Cold Weather at Llandilo

In the foothills here at Llandilo we normally get a few Redwings around and hear them overhead regularly. As well documented in other posts the coastal areas are full of them at the moment, here we havnt had a single one (or Fielfares) since the cold weather started. However, we are awash with Song Thrushes. Out and about over the last few days they seemed to be everywhere- in the lanes, garden and the wider woodland. Some even made it into the sheds housing the cows. Blackbird numbers are up too but not as noticeable as the thrushes.
A couple of Snipe dropped in to forage along the snow free edge of the garden brook yesterday.
Despite the hard conditions, Great Tit, Chaffinch, Robin and Dunnock have all had spare energy to sing every day.
