Martin’s Haven & Deer Park

Went out yesterday evening in the hope of finding a Wheatear, but no joy.
However, by the stream I flushed both a Snipe and a Water Rail. This has been my best winter ever here for Water Rails: I seem to see or hear them most days.

The most dramatic thing on the Deer Park was the  evidence of how many birds were killed in last week’s snow. I found seven Golden Plover just along the coast path overlooking Skomer, 2 Lapwing, and a dozen Redwing.
