Most of the thrushes and finches that arrived in our garden during the brief cold/snowy period a week ago (and many other birds that arrived in our general area) seem to have departed. The brambling is still here though, perhaps taking advantage of an easy food source to help it fatten up a bit before continuing its migration. Quite a few golden plovers, lapwings and redwings probably perished during the cold-snap however, corpses being observed/reported in various random places along the coast path from south to north Pembs in recent days.
