Around the Teifi

Some new birds around the estuary with the change in the weather. By the Webley Hotel there was the unusual sight of a juvenile Great Crested Grebe. Also a single Sanderling and 5 Ringed Plover, the first small waders for a while. 2 juvenile Mediterranean Gulls were with 120 Black-headed Gulls there.
From St Dogmaels quay, 8 Black-tailed Godwit were roosting with 110 Curlew.
At Pinog just upstream, there was a Common Sandpiper and more Black-headed Gulls.
On the Teifi Marsh there was a small fall of migrant Sedge Warblers after the early morning shower with 25 juveniles ringed in an hour before the next rain started.

A Willow Tit was calling this evening near Kingfisher pond. Not a common species on the reserve.
