Baird’s Sandpipers and Red-backed Shrike

Great day out started at the Gann where the 2 Baird’s Sandpipers showed fantastically well! Amazing to see two together! Also a Wheatear there.  Next up to a very blustery Dale Airfield where, after serval brief flight views, the smart juvenile Red-backed Shrike showed well tucked under a blackthorn bush out of the wind. We also had brief and silhouetted views of two waders flying skint towards St Ann’s Head, hard to tell what they were but they looked plover-like.
A pretty good day for someone still on crutches after having a knee operation a few weeks ago!
