Gadwall and Common Sands - Teifi

Not a rare duck nationwide but unusual to see a Gadwall on The Teifi. Jon G picked it up by St Dogmael's slipway this morning. Later it had moved upstream and settled on the river behind BV Rees where there were also 2 Common Sandpipers, a Grey Wagtail and a Kingfisher.

Early morning down at the estuary there was an increase in wader numbers with 47 Dunlin and 60 Redshank. Just 8 Ringed Plover. A few hundred Canada Geese and 110 Barnacles were noisily heading out to fields and Cardigan Island. Wigeon numbers are building with at least 300 around the estuary today.

For information , the boardwalk to Creek hide on the Teifi Marsh is currently closed following vandalism on Friday night.
Hopefully it can be repaired soon.
