Marloes peninsular

A bit of a wrap-up of the last three days: it's been Hen Harrier time out here, with very frequent sightings over the Trehill Farm fields and the Deer Park. Almost all ringtails, but a male flew over at last light on Friday, whilst most of us were preoccupied with putting the Skomer boat away.

On Saturday the Skomer wardens had stunning views of a Short-eared Owl that took prey right outside our kitchen window, and then sat on it, warning off the attentions of a nearby Buzzard.

And two separate sightings of Kestrels: a male and female.

On Marloes Mere a/the drake Pintail is back, generally seen from the Runwayskiln side.
