Peregrines "play hunting" and a day of Raptors

I took a walk down the river between St Catherines Bridge and Haverfordwest today (Monday). I immediately saw a large female Peregrine hunting over the woods. The Peregrine was soon mobbed by a male sparrowhawk in a half hearted way and the two birds swooped and tumbled together. This behaviour was repeated a few minutes later when the Peregrine started to mob a buzzard. In both cases the birds seemed to be "playing", to be practicing their skills. There seemed to be a joint understanding that this wasn't real, both the Sparrowhawk and the buzzard allowed the Peregrine to climb directly above them and even allowed it to stoop at them. However, the stoop was slow and both other birds easily and lazily evaded the Peregrine. I have seen this behaviour before near Newgale but the other bird that time was a Jackdaw. Soon after a male Peregrine also arrived and began hunting along the woods putting up Wood pigeons and a few Stock Doves. Another Buzzard circled off to the east and a Red Kite drifted past heading up river. The only birds really associated with the river were a single Heron, Moorhen and Grey Wagtail. Later at Plumstone I was treated to more Red Kites and, finally a Merlin.
