Hen Harrier, Dale airfield
What appeared to be the pale Ring tail Hen harrier that's been frequenting Marloes Mere, was active over the airfield and surrounding fields late this afternoon, flushing numbers of skylark, which caused it to twist and turn as it attempted to grab one. Otherwise very quiet, despite pretty much walking every yard of the grassy inner triangle. Stopped off at Mullock Bridge until dark. A probable Ring tail (distant and in the gloom) was quartering the saltmarsh. The 3 Little egret were joined by a 4th just before heading off in the direction of Dale around 4:45. Probably to roost opposite the Griffin, or possibly in the sycamores beside Pickleridge Pools. Happy New Year and good birding for 2019.
