Woodland birds (or Paul and Brians Excellent Adventure)
Another cracking day out with Paul G to tick-off some summering woodland birds. Starting at Canaston Woods with Wood warbler as soon as we got out of the car followed by Blackcap, Garden Warbler and Tree Pipit. Across to Minwear, for more Wood warblers and a chance to share them with Ian ex Manchester now visiting from the States and his sister. Up to Mynachlog-ddu/ Gors Fawr, where we added Cuckoo and Grasshopper warbler, before dashing up to a rather disappointing Fynonne Woods (no sign of Pied flys) but adding Marsh tit and Treecreeper. Pengelli next was much better, with singing Redstart and 2 Pied flycatchers. At Rosebush we added Lesser redpoll and Siskin, another Cuckoo, Gropper and Tree pipit. And finally Ty Rhyg provided Redstart, Lesser Whitethroat, Crossbill and Willow tit. Not a bad day.
