It's pleasing that yellowhammers are still present (hanging on?) in the Martletwy area.
During a walk around the local lanes a small population (at least 4 singing males) was recorded last evening and this evening in a regular spot.
They are in an area of fairly low intensity farmland with a mixture of rough grassland, small arable fields and hedgerows close to fairly open scrubby woodland.
No obvious greenfinches in our area though.
