This afternoon about 3.30pm on a falling tide there was a Curlew Sandpiper with about 20 Ringed Plovers and 3 Dunlin on the edge of the shingle beach below the Broom bush at the end of Pickleridge. It later flew off with the flock to the middle of the beach and later to the car park end, by which time there were nearer 30 Ringed Plover and a group of 5 Dunlin with which it was now close to. Around 6pm the flock flew off back towards the middle of the beach.
Typically, for the first time in weeks, I did not have a big camera with me, so could only manage some digiscope shots, none of which were very good as the bird was either snuggled down or preening when I had the phone out.
Further up the river was a Common Sandpiper and a colour-ringed Black-tailed Godwit which later joined the 97+ Curlew on the beach.
