Highlights of a day checking various places around Dale included a moulting adult Great Northern Diver close inshore at Watwick Bay. We managed 2 Chiffchaffs (Dale village & Dale Fort), 2 Siskins (Dale), a Coal Tit (Dale), 3 Red Kites (2 over Crabhall, another across the bay over Musselwick), 2 Med Gulls, 3 Black-tailed Godwits and a Red-breasted Merganser (all Gann).
The highlight, however, was a Clouded Yellow butterfly, which based on the upperwing was presumed to be a female of the form 'helice' (an off white, rather than orange-yellow). Lovely views of it adjacent to the car park in Dale.
