Ty Rhyg and Rosebush

Looks like a good year for Crossbill with plenty of cones on the Sitka spruce around the Preselis. A single flock of 20+ birds, with smaller family groups throughout the forestry this afternoon. Their excited chip, chip, chips together with the begging calls from the streaky youngsters resonated all around. The wheezy calls of Willow tits in two places added to the ambience. Dozen Snipe and a Golden plover flying around (no doubt more of each in the surrounding pastures). A male Goshawk drifting over resulted in the already vocal crossbills cranking up the volume.
Rosebush: A few chacking Fieldfare feeding in the surrounding hawthorns. All the waterfowl were distant, 5 Tufties (3m, 2 f), 4 Goldeneye (m, 3 f), 3 Little grebe, a GC grebe, a Coot, Heron and a Cormorant. c50 LBBs dropping in as I left. Red kite by Scolton on way home.
