Hen Harrier, Yellow-legged Gull, Merlin

A couple of hours birding started with a smart ringtail Hen Harrier causing havoc at the Gann pool, you name it, it was flying around or generally agitated by the predator's presence.

Spent some time going through the gulls (some on the beach, some up the river).  Highlight was an adult Yellow-legged Gull.  5 Mediterranean Gulls included 3 ringed adults, 2 with just metal rings but the single colour ringed bird (white ring with black 3AA0 on the right leg) appears to be from the ringing scheme in France/Holland.  Also 2 colour ringed adult Herring Gulls, one from Skokholm, one from Skomer.

Dale Airfield was pretty quiet, 8 Skylark but no Snipe.

The day ended with a dashing Merlin performing some acrobatics near St Ishmaels in pursuit of an unidentified small passerine as it got dark. (Dave & Lisa)
