Light conditions were perfect, water barely rippled, gulls pretty close, but it still took us an age to pick out the
Ring-billed gull. In our defence the roost was a bit scattered and birds were coming and going. Noticeably more
Mediterranean gulls than usual, our count of 10 (7adults, a 2cy and 2 1cy) was no doubt an under estimate. 20 Common gulls was similarly a conservative estimate. Again no adult
Yellow-legged gulls but Paul did pick out a fine 1cy bird and there was probably another.
Tawny owl at Farthing Brook end on way back to the car capped another interesting visit.
