During my 2nd visit to the Gann today at dusk, a possible Caspian Gull (2CY) on the rocks on the Musselwick side. It wasn't the best view, facing away from me at reasonable range, but the plumage features and structure etc looked good. Interestingly it was the only large gull in amongst a flock of far smaller Black-headed & Common Gulls (and a single Mediterranean Gull). It will be looked for tomorrow, especially as it is a potential 2nd for Pembrokeshire!
Managed to read 6 Redshank colour-rings today (they can be VERY difficult - smallish wader, rarely stops moving, belly feathers covering ring etc) and 12 Oystercatchers, all locally caught by the Pembrokeshire Ringing Group. Also flushed around 20 Ringed Plover on the beach, the first I've recorded here in a while.
In the last few days have managed to record a good number of colour-ringed gulls, so to follow my post of 1st February here is a quick summary for anyone interested:
5/2 Herring Gull adult red W:972 (Skokholm)

5/2 (& 3/2) Black-headed Gull adult yellow 2KNN (ringed in Essex in 2015, seen at the Nevern Estuary in February 2017 by Sam Baxter - http://www.ntgg.org.uk/cgi-bin/map.cgi?p=recmap&t=r&r=EY85242)
4/2 (& several dates before) Mediterranean Gull adult red PNE4 (awaiting details, but Adrian Rogers has been in touch to say this bird has been previously recorded at the Gann, Penally & Fishguard Harbour in 2014 - http://pembsbirds.blogspot.com/2014/07/gann-and-strumble.html, having been ringed as a chick in Poland in 2011)
3/2 Mediterranean Gull adult white 37L6 (ringed in 2007 in Arnhem, Netherlands, then undertaking a bit of a European Tour - France, Belgium & Spain - first UK record)
3/2 Mediterranean Gull 2CY white 2LX9 (ringed in 2019 in Arnhem, seen at the Nevern Estuary by Sam on 7/11/19)
Details of the other 3 ringed Mediterranean Gulls seen on 1/2 as follows:
2CY yellow AZPA (ringed at Rehbach Gravel Pit in Saxony, Germany, in 2019, this is the first re-sighting - one of 150 birds ringed at the site, 58 of them have been re-sighted so far) - photo if it just after ringing on 11/6/19 below
Adult white 3KR5 (ringed in Belgium in 2019, recorded 6 times in Dublin in 2019 before appearing at the Gann)
Adult white 3J23 (ringed in Belgium in 2005, also seen West Midlands, Kent, Hampshire & Devon, and in Pembrokeshire at the Gann in 2007 and in Angle Bay in 2012, 2015 & 2017!!)
