Firecrest Alley

From Craig and Shay (Lewis) - I thought I’d let you know about the wonderful birds seen in our week in Pembrokeshire.
We saw the Firecrests every time we went, Tuesday was two birds by the pink house, Wednesday was a single bird by the ruins of Milton Mill then Thursday was the best of all with a single bird about 30yds along the trail from the mill. The bird stayed in front of us for at least 30 mins and at one point was just a few metres away at head height (too close for my telephoto lens). Both Wednesday and Thursday we saw a single Chiffchaff plus the usual mixture of tits and finches.
Late on Wednesday a small walk at St Govans head where we saw a flock of 17 Choughs plus the obligatory jackdaws and Stonechats. We did see a few Red Kites, always from the car but still fab to see.
23 Brent Geese in front of the Point House pub at Angle with plenty of Curlew, Redshank and a small flock of Dunlin (I failed to see the Knot).
Friday am we went to Freshwater west where we went to the hide over looking the reed bed. True to form we saw a Marsh Harrier (female) and a good few hundred restless Golden Plovers and Lapwings.
Finally over Freshwater East on Friday morning soaring Buzzards(3) and a Peregrine.
Another fab trip to wonderful Pembrokeshire.

PS we’ve named the path at Carew Cheriton as Firecrest Alley
