From David Ord - Sprinkle Pill. On a walk out to Fowborough Point today: the chiffchaffs had rejoined the willow warblers and blackcaps in song (I finally managed to catch a blackcap out of deep bush). A rather smart reed bunting and his mate were at the point and a white wagtail playing in a puddle on the path back. Unusual sightings - a daytime tawny owl in the wood at the point, a late redwing on the path back and, a couple of days ago, 3 of Dave Astins’ wheatears foraging among the stones on the point itself.
From Clare Ryland - Fishguard, on my daily walk to look for whitethroat, I saw something far more exciting – a male Dartford warbler. Kicking myself for not taking my camera as I had excellent views of it, singing on a gorse bush.
Also saw 2 singing male whitethroat but they were somewhat eclipsed by the DW. The pair of wheatear I saw on 14th still present in the same location.
From Dave Evans - Cuckoo calling at 0850hrs today Saturday 18 April at Rhosycaerau, Pencaer.
