I think the delicacies of patch listing mean that I have to record the Grasshopper Warbler that was reeling this evening at 1930 as “heard from, but (probably) not in the garden”. So that’s another category for the challenge...
Mid-afternoon, a male Common Redstart was calling insistently from the gorse bordering the Car Park field: terrific to see the tricolour forehead and breast.
First thing this morning the Willow Warblers were still very present in the sallows, with several repeatedly in song. Also good numbers of Blackcaps, as per Steve’s comments from Mullock. Many of these were still present this afternoon, when most of the Willow Warblers had moved on.
Two male Peregrines also seen (and heard) duelling over the Deer Park.
Two (different) Adders and a Grass Snake made for a wonderful day.
