Sprinkle Pill and Cleddau Area

From David Ord - I did the usual circuit from Hook today, along Sprinkle Pill around the headland and then returning through the woods. Sprinkle Pill very quiet; 1 Little Egret and a Heron. A pair of Shelduck and two pairs of LBB Gulls seem to have set up in the Pill for the season - they’ve been there each time over the last 3 weeks. Similarly a single pair of Greylag Goose are knocking around regularly. The Cleddau estuary on this side is also relatively bare; a dozen Shelduck, a Cormorant and a scattering of Carrion Crows, Herring and LBB Gulls. The only waders I saw were 4 Redshank at the mouth of Millin Pill and a Curlew heard but not seen. Migrant wise, an interesting change from last week. Where a week ago the air was full with the song of chiffchaffs and blackcaps, this week it was of blackcaps and willow warblers with only the occasional chiffchaff. A sparrowhawk the only raptor in an otherwise unbroken blue sky!
