Turtle Dove @ Marloes & other assorted highlights

We had a cycle out to Martin's Haven after finishing work to look for Sash's Eastern Subalpine Warbler, alas no sign but plenty of birds around including 15+ Greenland Wheatears, 10+ Blackcaps, 4+ Willow Warblers and at least 4 Whitethroats.

On the way back through Marloes a Turtle Dove flew up from beside the road and landed on the roof of the thatched cottage next to the pub, before flying across the road into a tree and then going back behind the house (presumably the same bird was seen by John Walmsley nearby on 13th April).  A rare sight these days, a Turtle Dove with a thatched roof as a backdrop is very East Anglia...

Back at home over the past few days the highlights have been a pair of Gadwall (patch gold!) and a good passage of waders, with a peak of 57 Dunlin and 20+ Ringed Plover, and plenty of Whimbrel and Bar-tailed Godwits moving through:

Still a Great Northern Diver in the bay, and the Grasshopper Warbler is still singing near the house.  At the start of the week the first Reed Warbler was back, and we now have at least 2 here and 1 down near the car park.
