Gann

Derek's Brent Geese turned up yesterday, first we saw the dark-bellied bird on the lagoon, and it was later joined by the pale-bellied bird. Whether they arrived together we will never know!  Both still there this evening as the lagoon flooded once more.  Also 3 Great Northern Divers distantly in the bay, 2 in breeding plumage - bit late for them although it was so calm out there this evening they could be forgiven for thinking they were in a scene from On Golden Pond.

The Dunlin had reduced to 170 yesterday evening, and this evening just 45, along with 17 Ringed Plover.  The light was good for photography yesterday evening, see bottom of post for a little selection.  Dunlin 5L3 was still present, for its 3rd day (ringed at Ynyslas on 10/5/19).  Yesterday 3 Sandwich Terns flew into the bay and soon departed, this evening 2 Black-headed Gulls (both 2nd calendar year 2CY birds) had dropped in, so things are clearly on the move.
