Hobby, Plumstone

Had a good look around Plumstone this afternoon, first time in a while. An adult Hobby was hunting low across the heathland, much to the annoyance of the swallows and pipits, before heading west over Dudwell mountain. Quite a few large dragonflies on the wing were its likely target.

Good to see and hear 4 Yellowhammers (3m, 1f) mostly around the hawthorn scrub by the paddock. Couple of Spotted flycatcher in the forestry. Lots of fledglings around, Stonechats, Linnet, Whitethroat, Pipits and Willow warblers. Another Yellowhammer by Mason Bros, just above St Catherines bridge on the way back.
